Ainsi, la situation sécuritaire sur fond de tensions sociales, ethniques et religieuses est préoccupante. Le récent lynchage de deux bergers par la foule à Kaduna ou encore les agressions contre la minorité Peul à Taraba en sont des preuves. Le Sultan de Sokoto a, de son coté, appelé à la tolérance entre les croyants et à la paix.
Enfin, le cardinal John Onaiyekan, archevêque catholique d'Abuja jusqu'en 2019, a appelé les Nigérians à ne pas voter pour les candidatures présidentielles présentant des tickets avec des candidats de même confession.

Le communiqué rendant la suspension effective indique que la décision est consécutive à des allégations considérées comme "contraires à la sécurité de l'État." La suspension resterait effective jusqu'à la fin des enquêtes sur cette affaire.
Le communiqué indique également que la région a été témoin d'attaques croissantes d'individus soupçonnés d'avoir le soutien de certaines personnalités à responsabilité.

Enugu government suspends traditional leader over security concerns
The Enugu State Government has suspended the November 2019 crowned Traditional Ruler, Greg Ituma, of Ekpulato Mgbowo community in Awgu LGA over insecurity.
The statement making the suspension effective said the decision was as a result of allegations considered "contrary to the security of the state." The suspension would remain in effect until investigations into the matter are completed.
The communiqué also states that the region has witnessed increasing attacks by individuals suspected of having the support of certain leading figures.

Le Gouverneur de Taraba promet de détrôner tout dirigeant traditionnel compromettant la sécurité
Le Gouverneur de l'État de Taraba, Darius Dickson Ishaku, a promis de sanctionner tout chef traditionnel qui se livrerait à des activités considérées comme préjudiciables à la stabilité de l'État.
Cette déclaration a été faite lors de la remise du bâton de fonction à certains monarques, il a ajouté que, par le passé, des chefs traditionnels avaient été sanctionnés car ils étaient des obstacle au progrès.
Il a ainsi exhorté les nouveaux chefs traditionnels à collaborer avec les agents de sécurité dans la lutte contre l'insécurité dans leurs régions respectives.
Selon lui, le but des entités traditionnelles est de rapprocher la gouvernance du peuple, et non de les diviser.

Taraba governor vows to dethrone any traditional ruler who compromises security
The Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has promised to sanction any traditional ruler who engages in activities considered detrimental to the stability of the state.
The statement was made while handing over the baton of office to some of the monarchs, he added that in the past, traditional rulers had been sanctioned for being obstacles to progress.
He urged the new traditional leaders to collaborate with security agents in the fight against insecurity in their respective regions.
According to him, the purpose of traditional entities is to bring governance closer to the people, not to separate them.

Le Sultan de Sokoto appelle à la tolérance entre croyant
En commémoration de la Journée internationale de la paix 2022, le Sultan de Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, a été l'invité d'honneur du Programme national de sensibilisation à la sécurité dans les écoles secondaires, organisé par l'Association des anciens du Collège de défense nationale (AANDEC) en partenariat avec le Bureau du conseiller en sécurité nationale et la Fondation UFUK à Abuja.
Il a déclaré qu'il n'est pas possible pour une religion de supplanter une autre religion au Nigeria, car Dieu a volontairement créé les différentes religions au Nigeria et "Dieu détient la connaissance".
Aussi, le Sultan Abubakar a révélé que les adeptes des différentes religions devraient apprendre à s'accommoder les uns des autres et réaliser qu'ils prient le même Dieu.
"Dieu nous considère tous comme égaux. La paix n'est pas l'absence de guerre. La paix est simplement l'absence de justice" a-t-il dit.
Il a également souligné l'importance des femmes et de l'éducation des jeunes dans la construction de la paix au Nigeria.

Sultan of Sokoto calls for tolerance among believers
In commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2022, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, was the guest of honour at the National Security Awareness Programme in Secondary Schools, organised by the Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC) in partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the UFUK Foundation in Abuja.
He said it is not possible for one religion to supplant another religion in Nigeria because God willingly created the different religions in Nigeria and "God holds the knowledge".
Instead, Sultan Abubakar revealed that followers of different religions should learn to accommodate each other and realise that it is the same God they pray to.
"God sees us all as equal. Peace is not the absence of war. Peace is simply the absence of justice" he said.
He also stressed the importance of women and youth education in building peace in Nigeria.

Lynchage de deux bergers à Kaduna, le Gouverneur de l'État condamne
Le Gouverneur de l'État de Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, a condamné le meurtre de deux bergers par la foule dans la LGA de Birnin-Gwari, dimanche.
Le commissaire à la sécurité intérieure et aux affaires intérieures de l'État, Samuel Aruwan, a déclaré que la foule a saisi par la force deux bergers prétendument liés au banditisme et les a tués.
Le Gouverneur, a-t-il ajouté, a exprimé sa vive inquiétude quant à l'exécution extrajudiciaire des éleveurs. Il a rappelé la place des méthodes légales comme seule option acceptable pour faire face à tout soupçon de criminalité.
Une enquête est en cours.

Lynching of two herdsmen in Kaduna, state governor condemns
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has condemned the killing of two herdsmen by a mob in Birnin-Gwari LGA on Sunday.
The state's Commissioner for Internal Security and Internal Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the mob forcibly seized two herdsmen allegedly linked to banditry and killed them.
The governor, he added, expressed deep concern over the extrajudicial execution of the herdsmen. He reiterated the place of legal methods as the only acceptable option to deal with any suspected crime.
An investigation is underway.

L'Initiative mondiale pour le développement et les droits des Peuls (FGDRI) a condamné jeudi les stéréotypes et les meurtres incessants de Peuls dans le pays.
La FGDRI, tout en réagissant aux assassinats d'éleveurs à Bali à Taraba et à Birnin Gwari dans le Kaduna, a déclaré qu'il ne s'agissait pas d'incidents isolés, mais d'années d'élimination, d'annihilation des communautés d'éleveurs Peuls dans divers États de la fédération.
Les agences de sécurité ont appréhendé quatre suspects liés au crime dans l'État de Taraba.

The Global Fulani Development and Rights Initiative (FGDRI) on Thursday condemned the stereotyping and incessant killings of Fulani in the country.
FGDRI, while reacting to the killings of herdsmen in Bali, Taraba and Birnin Gwari, Kaduna, said these were not isolated incidents but years of elimination, annihilation of Fulani herdsmen communities in various states of the federation.
Security agencies have apprehended four suspects linked to the crime in Taraba State.

China refutes reports that it runs "police stations" in Nigeria
The Chinese government has denied reports that it has opened and operated police stations in Nigeria and other countries where its nationals reside.
The information comes from an investigative report by a rights organisation, Safeguard Defenders, entitled "110 Chinese overseas transnational police gone wild".
A senior Chinese official speaking on condition of anonymity refuted the report, stressing that diplomatic relations cannot allow any government to open police stations in another sovereign country outside its borders.
He said the report was fake news.
