300 leaders religieux et communautaires formés à la fraternité

Du 25 juin au 6 juillet, dans le cadre du programme PREVI, le Centre Diocésain de Communication de Ouahigouya (CDC) en consortium avec l’Association Jeunesse pour le Développement du Sahel (AJDS), a organisé une série de formations au profit de 300 leaders religieux et communautaires dans les communes de Ouahigouya, Gourcy et Kongoussi. Ces formations avaient pour thème la fraternité humaine et de l'acceptation mutuelle.

Le chef coutumier de Guiri-Guiri s’est dit convaincu que ces ateliers permettront de développer de nouvelles stratégies d'intervention sur le terrain pour favoriser une paix durable.

Les participants ont exprimé leur reconnaissance envers le Centre Diocésain de Communication (CDC) pour l'organisation de ces formations.

Le programme Prévention de la Radicalisation et de l'Extrémisme violent dans les régions du Nord, du Centre-Nord et du Sahel (PREVI), lancé en 2021 pour une durée de trois ans, est mis en œuvre par le consortium AJDS et le CDC. Il est financé par les Pays-Bas.

300 religious and community leaders trained in the concepts of human brotherhood

From 25 June to 6 July, as part of the PREVI programme, the Centre Diocésain de Communication de Ouahigouya (CDC) in consortium with the Association Jeunesse pour le Développement du Sahel (AJDS) organised a series of training sessions for 300 religious and community leaders in the communes of Ouahigouya, Gourcy and Kongoussi. The theme of the training sessions was human brotherhood and mutual acceptance.
The traditional chief of Guiri-Guiri said he was convinced that these workshops would help develop new strategies for action on the ground to promote lasting peace.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the Centre Diocésain de Communication (CDC) for organising these training sessions.
The Prevention of Radicalisation and Violent Extremism in the North, Centre-North and Sahel regions (PREVI) programme, launched in 2021 for a period of three years, is being implemented by the AJDS consortium and the CDC. It is funded by the Netherlands.

Le Burkina Faso participera au sommet Russie-Afrique

Le 10 juillet, la ministre des Affaires étrangères, Olivia Rouamba, a reçu l’ambassadeur de la République Fédérale de Russie, Alexey Saltykov. La rencontre portait notamment sur le soutien humanitaire de la Russie au Burkina Faso, les préparatifs du prochain sommet Russie-Afrique et le renforcement de la coopération dans les domaines de la sécurité et de la défense.

Le diplomate russe a annoncé que son pays accordera un soutien humanitaire d'environ 1,5 milliard de FCFA au Burkina Faso par le biais du Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM).

Olivia Rouamba a confirmé la participation du Burkina Faso au deuxième sommet Russie-Afrique, qui se tiendra à Saint-Pétersbourg du 26 au 29 juillet prochain afin de défendre les intérêts du pays en matière d'amélioration des conditions de vie de sa population. Ce deuxième sommet Russie-Afrique réunira 54 pays du continent africain.

Massive support for the Transition in Burkina Faso

On 10 July, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Olivia Rouamba, received the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Russia, Alexey Saltykov. The meeting focused in particular on Russia's humanitarian support for Burkina Faso, preparations for the forthcoming Russia-Africa summit and the strengthening of cooperation in the fields of security and defence.
The Russian diplomat announced that his country would be providing humanitarian support of around 1.5 billion CFA francs to Burkina Faso through the World Food Programme (WFP).
Olivia Rouamba confirmed that Burkina Faso would be taking part in the second Russia-Africa summit, to be held in St Petersburg from 26 to 29 July, to defend the country's interests in improving living conditions for its people. This second Russia-Africa summit will bring together 54 countries from the African continent.

Deuxième édition du festival de la Zone 1

La 2e édition du festival de la Zone 1 s'est déroulée à Ouagadougou du 6 au 9 juillet, autour du thème « Paix, diversité culturelle, cohésion sociale ». L'objectif principal était de rassembler la jeunesse autour de ces valeurs et d’améliorer les conditions de vie des défavorisés, des déplacés et des enfants ayant des difficultés à accéder à l'éducation.

Parallèlement, son promoteur Mohamed Ouédraogo prévoit la construction d'un centre de santé moderne et équipé en partenariat avec le ministère de la Santé. Il envisage également de créer une fondation, l'International Community Aids of Burkina Faso (ICAB), avec son siège aux États-Unis.

Pendant les quatre jours du festival, diverses activités ont eu lieu, notamment des jeux-concours, des dons de kits, une rue marchande et des performances d'artistes tels que Kayawoto et Miss Tanya.

Second edition of the Zone 1 festival

The 2nd edition of the Zone 1 festival took place in Ouagadougou from 6 to 9 July, under the theme "Peace, cultural diversity, social cohesion". The main aim was to rally young people around these values and improve the living conditions of the underprivileged, displaced people and children who have difficulty gaining access to education.
At the same time, its promoter Mohamed Ouédraogo plans to build a modern, well-equipped health centre in partnership with the Ministry of Health. He also plans to set up a foundation, the International Community Aids of Burkina Faso (ICAB), with its headquarters in the United States.
During the four days of the festival, a variety of activities took place, including competitions, kit donations, a shopping street and performances by artists such as Kayawoto and Miss Tanya.

Projet « Arts et trauma »

Le 4 juillet, le spectacle « Lagm N'zindi » s'est déroulé dans l'espace Grâce théâtre de Ouagadougou dans le cadre du projet « Arts et trauma ». Son objectif était d'aider les personnes déplacées internes à surmonter leur souffrance mentale.

Le spectacle a combiné humour, théâtre et sensibilisation, en abordant des thèmes tels que la cohésion, le pardon, l'alliance interethnique et le partage. Le metteur en scène a travaillé pendant deux mois sur la création du spectacle et la troupe continue de réfléchir à son amélioration.

Le projet « Arts et trauma » est une collaboration entre les artistes et les psychologues, visant à créer un dispositif artistique aligné sur les exercices de la psychologie pour atteindre les personnes déplacées internes.

Le représentant du Fonds de Développement culturel et touristique a exprimé sa satisfaction devant la participation massive du public à cette étape du projet.

"Arts et trauma" project

On 04 July, the show "Lagm N'zindi" took place at the Grâce theatre in Ouagadougou as part of the "Arts and trauma" project. Its aim was to help internally displaced people overcome their mental suffering.
The show combined humour, theatre and awareness-raising, tackling themes such as cohesion, forgiveness, inter-ethnic alliance and sharing. The director worked for two months on the creation of the show, and the troupe continues to reflect on how to improve it.
The "Arts and trauma" project is a collaboration between artists and psychologists, aimed at creating an artistic device aligned with the exercises of psychology to reach internally displaced people.
The representative of the Cultural and Tourist Development Fund, an institutional funding mechanism for cultural operators in Burkina Faso, expressed his satisfaction at the massive turnout at this stage of the project.

Une course cycliste organisée par la communauté ahmadiyya

La communauté islamique ahmadiyya du Burkina Faso, un mouvement de renouveau international dynamique et en croissance rapide au sein de l'islam, a organisé une course cycliste de 52 km à Ouagadougou le 9 juillet. Cette course avait pour objectif de renforcer la cohésion sociale et de promouvoir la paix dans le pays. Les participants à la course étaient des membres et des sympathisants de la communauté ahmadiyya âgés de plus de 40 ans, appelés les « Ansars ».

Débutée à Ouagadougou, la course s'est terminée à Bustan-e-Mahdi. L'événement sportif a rassemblé des personnes de différentes communautés, favorisant ainsi la rencontre et l'échange entre les participants.

Mahmood Nassir Saqib, amir et chef de la communauté islamique ahmadiyya du Burkina Faso, a souligné l'importance de la paix pour l'ensemble du peuple burkinabè. Il a appelé chaque individu à apporter sa contribution pour rétablir la paix et a encouragé les autres communautés à unir leurs efforts pour atteindre cet objectif à travers des activités similaires.

A cycle race organised by the Ahmadiyya community

The Ahmadiyya Islamic Community of Burkina Faso, a dynamic and fast-growing international renewal movement within Islam, organised a 52 km cycle race in Ouagadougou on 9 July. The aim of the race was to strengthen social cohesion and promote peace in the country. Participants in the race were members and supporters of the Ahmadiyya community over the age of 40, known as "Ansars".

The race began in Ouagadougou and ended in Bustan-e-Mahdi. The sporting event brought together people from different communities, encouraging encounters and exchanges between participants.

Mahmood Nassir Saqib, amir and head of the Ahmadiyya Islamic community in Burkina Faso, stressed the importance of peace for all the people of Burkina Faso. He called on each individual to make his or her own contribution to restoring peace, and encouraged other communities to join forces to achieve this goal through similar activities.

Formation à la paix financée par les États-Unis

Vingt leaders communautaires ont été formés à Kaya dans la région du Centre Nord du 7 au 8 juillet, sur la promotion de la paix et la cohésion sociale. L’objectif est de renforcer le rôle des leaders coutumiers et religieux au sein de leurs communautés.  La formation s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet « Promouvoir la paix et la cohésion sociale dans la région » financé par le département d'État américain.

Plusieurs spécialistes ont été sollicités pour dispenser des modules axés sur l'engagement des leaders dans la promotion de la paix et de la cohésion sociale. Ces modules ont abordé des thèmes tels que le développement personnel, le leadership, la gestion des ressources humaines, les enjeux de la promotion de la cohésion sociale, la communication non violente et le plaidoyer.

US-funded peace training

Twenty community leaders were trained in Kaya in the Centre-North region from 7 to 8 July on promoting peace and social cohesion. The aim is to strengthen the role of customary and religious leaders within their communities. The training is part of the "Promoting peace and social cohesion in the region" project, funded by the US State Department.
A number of specialists were called in to deliver modules focusing on leaders' commitment to promoting peace and social cohesion. The modules covered topics such as personal development, leadership, human resource management, the challenges of promoting social cohesion, non-violent communication and advocacy.

Une formation pour les jeunes déplacés internes

Le projet « un jeune, un métier d'avenir » dirigé par Herman Congo, gérant de l'entreprise Baraka et BTP et président de l'association des jeunes bâtisseurs du Burkina Faso, envisage de former 500 jeunes déplacés internes à cinq métiers d'avenir.

La formation, qui se déroule sur une durée d'un mois, portera sur des domaines tels que la peinture, la pose de carreaux, la construction, l'électricité du bâtiment, l'énergie solaire et la plomberie sanitaire.

L'objectif est d'aider ces jeunes à reconstruire et réhabiliter leurs maisons endommagées ou à devenir une main-d'œuvre locale pour les entrepreneurs.

À la fin de la formation, un projet témoin sera réalisé par les jeunes pour démontrer les compétences acquises. Herman Congo lance un appel aux personnes bienveillantes, aux partenaires techniques et financiers, pour les accompagner. Les villes de Kaya, Ouahigouya, Fada N'Gourma, Kongoussi et Dédougou sont concernées par ce projet de formation.

Training for young displaced persons

The "one young person, one trade for the future" project, led by Herman Congo, manager of the Baraka et BTP company and chairman of the Burkina Faso Young Builders Association, plans to train 500 young internally displaced persons in five trades for the future.
The one-month training course will cover areas such as painting, tile laying, construction, building electricity, solar energy and sanitary plumbing.
The aim is to help these young people rebuild and rehabilitate their damaged homes or become a local workforce for contractors.
At the end of the training, a demonstration project will be carried out by the young people to showcase the skills they have acquired. Herman Congo is calling on kind-hearted people and technical and financial partners to support them. The training project covers the towns of Kaya, Ouahigouya, Fada N'Gourma, Kongoussi and Dédougou.

Responsabiliser les jeunes et les femmes dans la construction de la paix

Le Secrétariat technique du ministère chargé de la Réconciliation nationale et du vivre-ensemble a lancé des conférences régionales sur la responsabilisation des jeunes et des femmes dans la construction de la paix.

Ces conférences qui ont commencé le 11 juillet dans la région du Centre se déroulent jusqu’au 19 juillet dans toutes les régions du Burkina Faso. Elles ont pour objectif d'impliquer les jeunes et les femmes dans la prévention et la gestion des conflits locaux, ainsi que dans la restauration de la paix en s'appuyant sur les valeurs endogènes et traditionnelles du pays.

Les conférences visent à amener les jeunes et les femmes à assumer leur rôle dans la construction de la paix, ainsi qu'à impliquer davantage les leaders communautaires dans la promotion de la cohésion sociale.

L'initiative du ministère bénéficie du soutien du Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD).

Empowering young people and women in peace-building

The technical secretariat of the ministry responsible for national reconciliation and living together has launched regional conferences on empowering young people and women in peace-building.
These conferences, which began on 11 July in the Centre region and will run until 19 July in all the regions of Burkina Faso, aim to involve young people and women in the prevention and management of local conflicts, as well as in the restoration of peace based on the country's endogenous and traditional values.
The conferences aim to encourage young people and women to assume their role in peace-building, and to get community leaders more involved in promoting social cohesion.
The ministry's initiative is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Deux chefs terroristes recherchés ont été capturés au Niger

Selon Radio France Internationale (RFI), des soldats nigériens et français opérant dans la zone des trois frontières ont neutralisé plusieurs jihadistes et capturé deux chefs terroristes recherchés au Burkina Faso.

Les chefs terroristes sont identifiés comme Abou Maryam alias Zaïd, procureur général de l'État islamique dans le Grand Sahara (EIGS), et Sita Ousseini alias Loukoumane. Le gouvernement burkinabè offrait une récompense de 150 millions de francs CFA pour Abou Maryam et 175 millions de francs CFA pour Sita Ousseini.

Les opérations conjointes aéroterrestres des forces spéciales nigériennes et françaises dans la région du Gorouol ont permis la neutralisation de plusieurs terroristes de l'EIGS. Aucune confirmation officielle n'a été donnée à Ouagadougou, la capitale du Burkina Faso, concernant ces informations devenues virales sur les réseaux sociaux et les messageries.

Two wanted terrorist leaders captured in Niger

According to Radio France Internationale (RFI), Niger and French soldiers operating in the tri-border area have neutralised several jihadists and captured two terrorist leaders wanted in Burkina Faso.
The terrorist leaders are identified as Abou Maryam alias Zaïd, Attorney General of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (EIGS), and Sita Ousseini alias Loukoumane. The Burkinabe government offered a reward of 150 million CFA francs for Abou Maryam and 175 million CFA francs for Sita Ousseini.
Joint air-land operations by Nigerien and French special forces in the Gorouol region resulted in the neutralisation of several EIGS terrorists. There has been no official confirmation from Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, of this news, which has gone viral on social networks and messaging services.
