Lancement quatrième congrès pulaaku

Le Burkina Faso est confronté depuis 2015 à des attaques terroristes. Les membres des groupes terroristes sont en majorité des peuls qui font l’objet d’une stigmatisation au sein de la communauté.

Le 15 septembre 2022 s’est tenue à Ouagadougou, le quatrième congrès peul - le pulaaku. Le était thème « la contribution du pulaaku à la promotion de la paix au sahel ». L'évènement a regroupé de ressortissants peuls venus du Burkina Faso, Togo, Mali,  Niger, Mauritanie et même d’Allemagne.

La cérémonie d’ouverture a été présidé par le premier président Albert Ouédraogo qui a exprimé sa gratitude à cette communauté pour leur contribution à l’édification de la paix. Il leur a fait part aussi de la volonté du gouvernement à mener une large réflexion plus approfondie pour la recherche de la paix au sahel.

Le ministre des affaires religieuses et coutumières Issaka Sourwemb a pris part à cette cérémonie, en exprimant le soutien du gouvernement.

Launch of the 4th Pulaaku Congress

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been confronted with numerous terrorist attacks, which have had a perceptible impact on security and food security. The majority of the members of the terrorist groups are Fulani, who are currently stigmatised within the community.

On 15 September 2022, the opening ceremony of the 4th Pulaaku Congress was held in Ouagadougou with the theme "the contribution of Pulaaku to the promotion of peace in the Sahel". This event brought together several Fulani nationals from various countries such as Burkina Faso, Togo, Mali, Niger, Mauritania and Germany.

The opening ceremony was chaired by the first president Albert Ouedraogo who expressed his gratitude to this community for their contribution to peace building. He also informed them of the government's willingness to carry out a wide-ranging and more in-depth reflection on the search for peace in the Sahel.

The Minister of Religious and Customary Affairs, Issaka Sourwemb, also took part in the ceremony, congratulating the actors for the organisation of the congress and expressing the government's support.

Le CCEBBF visite les déplacées de Tabtenga

Les déplacés de Tabtenga ont reçu la visite du « cadre de concertation des ONG et associations en éducation de base du Burkina Faso » (CCEBBF) avant une semaine d’action qui se tient du 20 au 30 septembre. Le but de cette visite était de s’enquérir des conditions d’accueil et de la vie quotidienne des femmes et des enfants. Les déplacés ont exprimé leurs doléances et expliqué leurs conditions de vie.

Des vivres ont été distribués aux déplacés, en majorité des femmes et des enfants.

The CCEBBF visits the internally displaced persons of Tabtenga

The internally displaced persons of Tabtenga were visited by the "Cadre de Concertation des ONG et Associations en Education de Base du Burkina Faso" (CCEBBF) on the occasion of the celebration of the week of action planned to be held from 20 to 30 September. The aim of this visit was to inquire about the conditions of reception and the daily life of women and children. The displaced also expressed their grievances and the difficult conditions they face.

At the end of the meeting, food was given to the displaced people, the majority of whom are women and children.

La crise sécuritaire au cœur d’un colloque international des journalistes

Le centre national de recherche scientifique et technologique (CNRST), l’institut national des sciences des sociétés (INSS), Independent research fund Danemark et le réseau international de recherche médias, ont organisé un colloque international les 15 et 16 septembre à Ouagadougou afin de trouver des solutions à la crise sécuritaire au Sahel.

Un plan de veille a été adopté « gatekeeping » pour collecter les informations de façon permanente, les analyser et les mettre à la disposition des politiques.

Security crisis at the heart of an international conference of journalists

The National Centre for Scientific and Technological Research (CNRST), the National Institute for Social Sciences (INSS), Independent Research Fund Denmark and the International Media Research Network organised an international colloquium on 15 and 16 September in Ouagadougou to find solutions to the security crisis in the Sahel.

A gatekeeping plan was adopted to collect information on a permanent basis, analyse it and make it available to policymakers.

Pour la journée de la Paix, l’Ong PAX forme des jeunes

Des jeunes ont reçu une formation à Ouagadougou du 19 au 21 septembre, à l’occasion de la journée internationale de la paix. Organisé par l'Ong PAX, elle a permis aux jeunes d’acquérir des connaissances sur la prévention des crises et la gestion de la paix sociale. Ces jeunes  sont les plus exposés au recrutement dans les groupes terroristes en raison du chômage et de la pauvreté.

For the peace day, the NGO PAX trains young people

Young people received training in Ouagadougou from September 19 to 21, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace. Organized by the NGO PAX, the training provided young people with knowledge on crisis prevention and social peace management. These young people are the most exposed to recruitment into terrorist groups because of unemployment and poverty.

Les autorités coutumières de Ouagadougou apportent des dons aux déplacés internes

Le Mogho-Naaba et sa suite ont fait un don au ministère chargé de la solidarité nationale pour les déplacés internes ainsi qu’à leurs familles d’accueil le 15 septembre dernier. Le Ouidi Naaba estime que ces dons sont une façon d’apporter “notre soutien conformément à nos valeurs que sont le vivre-ensemble, la solidarité et l’entraide”.

La délégation a appelé les personnes de bonne volonté à apporter plus de dons aux personnes déplacées.

The customary authorities of the city of Ouagadougou bring donations to the internally displaced

The Mogho-Naaba and his entourage made a donation to the ministry in charge of national solidarity for IDPs and their host families on September 15. The Ouidi Naaba considers that these donations are a way to bring "our support in accordance with our values of living together, solidarity and mutual aid.

The delegation called on people of good will to bring more donations to the displaced people.

La cité SONATUR de Nioko 1 renforce sa cohésion

Les femmes de la cité SONATUR de nioko 1 ont organisé une journée des communautés le 18 septembre sous le thème : « diversité culturelle et sport au service de la cohésion sociale et de la paix dans la cité SONATUR Nioko 1 ». Cette première édition a réuni plusieurs communautés nationales et étrangères dans la zone. La présidente de l’association estime que cette journée permettra de créer un cadre ou les différentes communautés vont exprimer leur savoir-faire afin de promouvoir le vivre ensemble.

La vice-présidente de l’association estime que qu'il est important de solidifier les rapports avec le voisin pour être mieux protégé.

The SONATUR city of Nioko 1 strengthens its cohesion

The women of the SONATUR city of Nioko 1 organized a community day on September 18 under the theme: "cultural diversity and sport for social cohesion and peace in the SONATUR Nioko 1 city". This first edition brought together several national and foreign communities in the area. The president of the association believes that this day will create a framework where the different communities will express their know-how to promote living together.

The vice-president of the association believes that it is important to strengthen the relationship with the neighbor to be better protected.

Nouvelle action d’Educommunicafrik dans la région du centre-nord

L’Ong Educommunicafrik a lancé dans la région du centre-nord le projet « engagement des jeunes dans la prévention et le lutte contre la radicalisation et l’extrémisme violent aux Burkina Faso à travers l’éducation aux médias ».

Educommunicafrik est une structure qui mène des activités au profit des jeunes et des déplacés internes à travers la sensibilisation, des activités d’éducation aux médias, des cadres d’échanges inter religions et communautaires.

Educommunicafrik a organisé une conférence le 14 septembre à Kaya dans le Centre-Nord. Elle a réuni des jeunes autour du thème « Extrémisme violent : quelles stratégies pour une jeunesse résiliente ?». 

Educommunicafrik a également rencontré des personnes déplacées internes du site de Bollé afin de recueillir leurs avis sur la question de la radicalisation et de l’extrémisme violent.

New Educommunicafrik action in the North Central region

The NGO Educommunicafrik has launched in the north-central region the project "Youth engagement in the prevention and fight against radicalization and violent extremism in Burkina Faso through media education".

Educommunicafrik is a structure that carries out activities for the benefit of youth and internally displaced persons through awareness raising, media education activities, inter-religious and community exchange frameworks.

Educommunicafrik organized a conference on September 14 in Kaya in the Centre-North. It gathered young people around the theme "Violent extremism: what strategies for a resilient youth? 

Educommunicafrik also met with internally displaced persons from the Bollé site to gather their opinions on the issue of radicalization and violent extremism.

Evaluation  des stratégies nationales de réconciliation

Pour recueillir des informations fiables dans le processus de réconciliation nationale, le ministère chargé de la réconciliation nationale organise des conférences régionales publiques. Un atelier s’est tenu le 15 septembre à Bobo-Dioulasso. Il avait pour objectif l’appropriation des stratégies nationales de réconciliation, de cohésion sociale, la prévention de la radicalisation et de l’extrémisme violent par les populations. 

Les résultats des données recueillies auprès des populations lors des concertations communales seront restitués.

Evaluation of national reconciliation strategies

To gather reliable information for the national reconciliation process, the ministry in charge of national reconciliation is organizing public regional conferences. A workshop was held on September 15 in Bobo-Dioulasso. Its objective was to ensure that the national strategies for reconciliation, social cohesion, and the prevention of radicalization and violent extremism are appropriated by the population. 

The results of the data collected from the population during the communal consultations will be presented.

Le 15 septembre dernier le Naaba Tigré, chef de canton de Pikoutenga, localité située dans la région du centre-nord, a été agressé par des individus armés. Il n’a pas subi de sévices corporels, mais a été dépossédé de son véhicule ainsi que de ses téléphones portables. L’agression a eu lieu à hauteur du village de Koutoula-Yarcé distant de sept km de Kaya.

Suite à l’attaque à l’engin explosif improvise qui a visé le véhicule transportant des civils le 05 septembre, plusieurs bases terroristes dans la province du Soum, région du Sahel ont été détruites. Une cinquantaine de terroristes ont été neutralisé et d’importants matériels détruits.

Plusieurs terroristes, dont des leaders, ont été capturés lors des opérations de ratissage intervenues en représailles à l’attaque du détachement militaire de Deou.

La province des Banwa, localité située dans la région de la boucle du Mouhoun, a fait l’objet de plusieurs attaques. Les forces armées nationales ont mené des opérations  qui ont permis de détruire des bases terroristes. Les forces de défense et de sécurité ont invité les populations à leur faire confiance et à ne pas être influencées par les manipulations des groupes armés sur les réseaux sociaux.

Update on the security situation

On 15 September, the Naaba Tigré, chief of the canton of Pikoutenga, in the centre-north region, was attacked by armed individuals. Although he was not physically harmed, he was robbed of his vehicle and mobile phones. The attack took place in the village of Koutoula-Yarcé, 7 km from Kaya.



Following the IED attack on a vehicle carrying civilians on 5 September, several terrorist bases in the Soum province, Sahel region, were destroyed. About fifty terrorists were neutralised and important equipment destroyed.

Also, several terrorists, including group leaders, were captured during the sweep operations that took place in retaliation for the attack on the military detachment in Deou.

The province of Banwa, a locality in the Loop of Mouhoun region, has been the target of several attacks in recent times. The national armed forces have carried out search and target operations that have destroyed terrorist bases. The defence and security forces have invited the population to trust them and to abandon the manipulations of armed groups on social networks.

In addition, the SDF has carried out actions on behalf of the population, such as escorting merchants for the supply of goods.
