La France confirme le retrait de la force Sabre et rappelle son ambassadeur

Le 20 décembre, les autorités burkinabè avaient adressé une lettre  au ministère français des Affaires étrangères, réclamant le remplacement de l’ambassadeur de France Luc Hallade, et confirmant la demande du départ des militaires français basés à Ouagadougou.

Le Quai d'Orsay a annoncé le 26 janvier le rappel de son ambassadeur, Luc Hallade, pour consultation. La veille, Paris avait annoncé le retrait de ses 400 forces spéciales stationnées à Ouagadougou.

Les autorités burkinabè ont expliqué qu’il revient aux Burkinabè de combattre le terrorisme. Cependant, Ouagadougou estime que la coopération avec Paris est toujours d’actualité, surtout sur le plan des équipements.

France confirms the withdrawal of the Sabre force and recalls its ambassador 

In the north of Burkina Faso, more precisely in Arbinda, about fifty women were abducted on 12 and 13 January by unidentified armed individuals, according to local sources.

According to information relayed in the newspaper Les Dailies du Faso, a first group of forty-one women were abducted on Thursday morning while in the bush, four kilometres from the town, in search of edible leaves and fruit. The next day, a second group of fifteen women, who were not informed of the first abduction, were reportedly subjected to the same fate and under the same circumstances.

An operation led by the Burkinabé army freed sixty-six women and their babies in the Tougouri area on January 20.

Des professionnels des musées se rencontrent à Ouagadougou

Des professionnels des musées maliens, burkinabè et bien d’autres se sont retrouvés le 24 janvier à Ouagadougou pour réfléchir à faire des musées des pays du Sahel un pôle d’attraction culturelle.

Cette initiative s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet du Conseil international des musées (ICOM ALIPH). Elle permet à travers des partages d’expérience et des connaissances, à sécuriser, documenter et gérer les réserves, selon Sophie Delepierre, responsable de la protection du patrimoine à Paris. Cette rencontre permet d’outiller les professionnels des musées à mieux protéger les patrimoines culturels dans le Sahel.

Museum professionals meet in Ouagadougou

Museum professionals from Mali, Burkina Faso and elsewhere met on 24 January in Ouagadougou to reflect on how to make museums in the Sahel countries a real cultural attraction. This initiative, which is part of the International Council of Museums (ICOM ALIPH) project, will enable the sharing of experiences and knowledge to secure, document and manage the reserves, according to Sophie Delepierre, head of heritage protection in Paris. In short, this meeting will equip museum professionals to better protect cultural heritage in the Sahel.

Mohamed Sinon est incarcéré

Mohamed Sinon, présenté comme un partisan des autorités de la transition au Burkina Faso, avait proféré des menaces de mort contre le journaliste Newton Ahmed Barry, ex-président de la Commission électorale nationale indépendante (CENI), pour avoir critiqué les actions du gouvernement burkinabè. Pour rappel, il est le porte-parole des organisations responsables des manifestations pour le départ des forces françaises et de l’ambassadeur de France au Burkina Faso, Luc Hallade. Le 23 janvier, après son audition devant le procureur du Faso, il a été déféré à la Maison d’arrêt et de correction de Ouagadougou (MACO).

Mohamed Sinon is in jail

Mohamed Sinon, presented as a supporter of the transitional authorities in Burkina Faso, had issued death threats against the journalist Newton Ahmed Barry, former president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), for criticising the actions of the Burkinabe government. As a reminder, he is the spokesperson for the organisations responsible for the demonstrations for the departure of the French forces and the French ambassador to Burkina Faso, Luc Hallade. On 23 January, after his hearing before the Faso prosecutor, he was transferred to the Ouagadougou prison (MACO).

Mos Corporating lance un concours pour contrer le terrorisme

Un concours, ayant pour but de faire participer la population burkinabè à la lutte contre le terrorisme, a été initié par l’entreprise Mos Corporating Sarl, qui en a expliqué les règles le 19 janvier à Ouagadougou.

À travers ce concours, les problèmes qui impactent négativement la population burkinabè seront identifiés. Le thème retenu pour cette année porte sur la question du terrorisme, notamment sur la « Réponse aux impacts de l’insécurité publique (terrorisme) sur la population burkinabè ».

Fagua Rubens, gérant de Mos Corporating Sarl, a estimé que le concours permettra d’impliquer les populations  dans la gestion de la crise sécuritaire.

La mise en œuvre effective des projets retenus augmentera la résilience des populations, la poursuite du développement économique et humain, la création d’activités génératrices de revenus pour les déplacés internes, la régression de l’insécurité urbaine et de la mendicité à outrance.

Mos Corporating launches competition to counter terrorism

A competition aimed at involving the Burkinabe population in the fight against terrorism was initiated by the company Mos Corporating Sarl, which explained the rules on 19 January in Ouagadougou.

Through this competition, the problems that negatively impact the Burkinabe population will be identified. The theme chosen for this year is terrorism, in particular the "Response to the impact of public insecurity (terrorism) on the Burkinabe population".

Fagua Rubens, manager of Mos Corporating Sarl said that the competition will allow the involvement of the population in the management of the security crisis.

 The effective implementation of the selected projects will increase the resilience of the population, the pursuit of economic and human development, the creation of income-generating activities for internally displaced persons, the reduction of urban insecurity and excessive begging.

18 représentants d’église formés au plaidoyer pour la paix

Le 24 janvier, l’Initiative Paix au Sahel (SPI) et le Catholic Relief Services (CRS) ont organisé un atelier de formation en plaidoyer au profit de 18 personnes à Ouagadougou.

Cette formation pour des représentants de plusieurs structures de l’Église vise à leur apprendre « les meilleures attitudes, les meilleurs comportements, les meilleurs gestes et les meilleures démarches à adopter pour le retour de la paix » selon l’évêque auxiliaire de Koudougou, Mgr Alexandre Bazié.

La formation permet « de recréer la cohésion sociale, la réconciliation et d’apporter la paix au Sahel en général et au Burkina Faso en particulier », selon le conseiller technique Manzo Dembélé, formateur de l’atelier.

18 church representatives trained in peace advocacy

On 24 January, the Sahel Peace Initiative (SPI) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) organised an advocacy training workshop for 18 people in Ouagadougou. This training session, whose beneficiaries are representatives of several church structures, aims to teach them "the best attitudes, the best behaviours, the best gestures and the best approaches to adopt for the return of peace, according to the auxiliary bishop of Koudougou, Monsignor Alexandre Bazié. This training will help "recreate social cohesion, reconciliation and bring peace to the Sahel in general and to Burkina Faso in particular", according to the workshop's technical advisor, Manzo Dembélé.

Une nouvelle association pour la promotion de la cohésion sociale

Une nouvelle association dénommée Faso Sinignassigui (FASI), essentiellement composée d'étudiants, a été présentée à la presse le 16 janvier. L’objectif de cette association est de promouvoir la cohésion sociale.

Selon Brice Tarnagda, président de FASI, l’initiative est née de l’évolution du contexte socio politique burkinabè marqué par des messages diffusés sur les réseaux sociaux, qui menacent le vivre-ensemble.

Les conférenciers ont invité les leaders coutumiers et religieux à s’impliquer davantage dans la sensibilisation des populations. La nouvelle association se dit prête à s’engager dans la guerre contre l’insécurité, en sensibilisant les populations à la nécessité et l’importance du dialogue pour le retour à une paix durable. Ils invitent les jeunes à adhérer massivement à l’association.

A new association to promote social cohesion

A new association called Faso Sinignassigui (FASI), composed mainly of students, was presented to the press on 16 January. The aim of this association is to promote social cohesion.
According to Brice Tarnagda, president of FASI, the initiative was born out of the evolution of the socio-political context in Burkina Faso, marked by messages spread on social networks, which threaten living together.
The speakers invited customary and religious leaders to become more involved in raising awareness among the population. The new association says it is ready to engage in the war against insecurity, by raising awareness of the need for and importance of dialogue for the return of lasting peace. They invite young people to join the association en masse.

Des femmes et jeunes filles déplacées internes bénéficiaires d’un projet de formations et de dotations en kits d’installation

Le 12 janvier, l’Association Yiikri a organisé à la salle des fêtes de la mairie de Ziniaré, la cérémonie de clôture du « projet d’appui aux initiatives économiques des femmes et des jeunes filles déplacées internes de la province de l’Oubritenga ». Avec le soutien financier du Fonds PISCCA de l’ambassade de France, ce projet a permis de contribuer au bien-être de 202 personnes déplacées internes à travers des formations et des dotations en kits d’installation. Lancé le 13 juillet 2022, le projet a duré 8 mois pour un coût global de 40 millions de francs CFA.

Internally displaced women and girls benefit from a training and settlement kit project

On 12 January, the Yiikri Association organised the closing ceremony of the "project to support the economic initiatives of internally displaced women and girls in the province of Oubritenga" in the village hall of Ziniaré. With the financial support of the French Embassy's PISCCA Fund, this project has contributed to the well-being of 202 internally displaced persons through training and the provision of installation kits. Launched on 13 July 2022, the project lasted 8 months at a total cost of 40 million CFA francs.

Une formation à la prévention des conflits pour les femmes

Le 24 janvier, à Ouagadougou, l’Organisation internationale pour les migrations (OIM), en collaboration avec le gouvernement burkinabè, a lancé un nouveau projet au profit des femmes des régions du Nord et du Sahel.

Le projet « Renforcement de l’autonomisation et la résilience des femmes pour promouvoir la paix et la cohésion sociale dans les régions du Nord et du Sahel du Burkina Faso », qui durera trois ans (2022-2025), permettra « aux femmes bénéficiaires et à toutes les femmes des différentes régions de préparer leur retour dans leurs localités d’origine où elles ont tout perdu », selon le conseiller technique chargé des questions de paix et de sécurité auprès de la ministre en charge de l’Action humanitaire, Abdoulaye Gamdema.

Maria Sargren, ambassadrice de Suède au Burkina, partenaire financier du projet, a fait savoir que la participation des femmes au processus de paix et à la cohésion sociale est une priorité pour son pays.

Conflict prevention training for women

On 24 January in Ouagadougou, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with the government of Burkina Faso, launched a new project for the benefit of women in the North and Sahel regions.
The project "Strengthening women's empowerment and resilience to promote peace and social cohesion in the North and Sahel regions of Burkina Faso", which will last for three years (2022-2025), will enable "the beneficiary women and all women in the various regions to prepare their return to their localities of origin where they have lost everything", according to the technical adviser in charge of peace and security issues to the minister in charge of humanitarian action, Abdoulaye Gamdema.
Maria Sargren, the Swedish ambassador to Burkina Faso, the project's financial partner, said that the participation of women in the peace process and in social cohesion is a priority for her country.

Le président invite les associations islamiques à promouvoir la paix

Le 20 janvier, le Chef de l’État burkinabè a reçu une délégation de la Fédération des Associations islamiques du Burkina (FAIB) à Ouagadougou.

Le Capitaine Ibrahim Traoré a invité les associations islamiques à la promotion de la paix et de la cohésion sociale. « Il a insisté sur la nécessité de véhiculer des messages allant dans le sens de ces mêmes valeurs pendant les séances de prêche », a confié le président de la FAIB, El Hadj Oumarou.

La délégation de la FAIB a exprimé la disponibilité de la Fédération à accompagner les autorités de la transition dans la réussite de leur mission.

President calls on Islamic associations to promote peace

On 20 January, the Head of State of Burkina Faso received a delegation from the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB) in Ouagadougou. During the discussions, Captain Ibrahim Traoré invited Islamic associations to promote peace and social cohesion. He also insisted on the need to convey messages in the direction of these same values during the preaching sessions, said the president of FAIB, El Hadj Oumarou. In return, the FAIB delegation expressed the availability of the federation to accompany the transitional authorities in the success of their mission.

Colloque sur la résilience avec les acteurs de la culture et des médias

Le colloque dénommé « Médias, Culture, Tourisme et Résilience » s’est tenu le 20 janvier sous la présidence de Bassolma Bazié, ministre d’État, en charge de la Fonction publique, du travail et de la protection sociale.

Le thème de ce colloque était « l’engagement des acteurs culturels et des médias pour la prévention de la stigmatisation et la radicalisation en vue de la lutte contre l’extrémisme violent ».

Bassolma Bazié a lancé un appel au monde culturel pour s’engager dans la lutte contre la stigmatisation, la radicalisation, l’extrémisme violent et à œuvrer surtout pour que la paix revienne au pays.

Colloquium on resilience with cultural and media actors

The colloquium entitled "Media, Culture, Tourism and Resilience" was held on 20 January under the chairmanship of Bassolma Bazié, Minister of State, Minister in charge of Public Service, Labour and Social Protection.
The theme of this colloquium was "the commitment of cultural actors and the media for the prevention of stigmatisation and radicalisation in view of the fight against violent extremism".
Bassolma Bazié appealed to the cultural world to engage in the fight against stigmatisation, radicalisation and violent extremism, and to work above all for peace to return to the country.

Des terroristes neutralisés dans plusieurs localités du pays

Selon les informations émanant de la direction de la Communication et des Relations Publiques des Armées, du 15 décembre au 15 janvier, la situation sécuritaire dans plusieurs localités du pays comme Solenzo a été améliorée.

Une action offensive a été conduite le 4 janvier sur une base terroriste dans les environs de Kinséré (Province de la Kossi, région de la Boucle du Mouhoun).

Le bilan de l’assaut a fait état d’une quinzaine de terroristes neutralisés. Plusieurs fusils d’assaut et fusils mitrailleurs ainsi que des munitions ont été récupérés et détruits. Une importante quantité d’explosifs a également été saisie.

D’autres actions offensives ont été conduites pour sécuriser les localités de Séguénega, Kongoussi et leurs environs. Plusieurs terroristes ont été neutralisés.

Les unités militaires ont conduit des opérations de sécurisation dans la province du Seno et plus précisément dans la localité de Falangoutou depuis le début du mois de janvier. L’objectif de ces opérations militaires était de desserrer l’étau autour de cette localité et ses environs, longtemps objet de harcèlement par les groupes armés terroristes.

Terrorists neutralised in several locations in the country

According to information from the Directorate of Communication and Public Relations of the Armed Forces, from 15 December to 15 January, the security situation in several localities in the country, such as Solenzo, has improved.

On the basis of precise information provided by the intelligence services, an offensive action was carried out on 4 January on a terrorist base in the vicinity of Kinséré (Kossi Province, Boucle du Mouhoun region).

The assault resulted in the neutralisation of some 15 terrorists. Several assault rifles and machine guns as well as ammunition were recovered and destroyed. A large quantity of explosives was also seized.

Other offensive actions were carried out to secure the localities of Séguénega, Kongoussi and their surroundings; several terrorists were neutralised.

Military units have been conducting security operations in the Seno province, and more specifically in the locality of Falangoutou, since the beginning of January. The aim of these military operations was to loosen the stranglehold on this locality and its surroundings, which had long been the object of harassment by armed terrorist groups.

Le Conseil Supérieur de la Communication reçu  par le Premier ministre

Le Collège des conseillers du Conseil supérieur de la communication (CSC) accompagné de son Président, Abdoul Aziz Bamogo a été reçu en audience par le Premier ministre, Apollinaire Kyelem.

Pour Abdoulazize Bamogo, la vision du CSC en cette période de crise est la lutte contre la désinformation et la propagation de fausses informations ; la sensibilisation sur la responsabilité sociale des médias, la réalisation de campagnes d’éducation aux médias, afin de réduire les discours violents sur les réseaux sociaux.

En réponse aux préoccupations soulevées, le Premier ministre a souhaité que le CSC révise ses textes, afin d’éviter que l’institution ne soit prise en otage par les politiques.

The Superior Council of Communication received by the Prime Minister

The College of Councillors of the Superior Council of Communication (CSC) accompanied by its President, Abdoul Aziz Bamogo was received in audience by the Prime Minister, Apollinaire Kyelem.
For Abdoulazize Bamogo, the vision of the CSC in this period of crisis is to fight against disinformation and the spread of false information; to raise awareness on the social responsibility of the media, and to carry out media education campaigns to reduce violent discourse on social networks.
In response to the concerns raised, the Prime Minister expressed the wish that the CSC revise its texts to avoid the institution being taken hostage by politicians.
