Région de la Boucle du Mouhoun : des hommes armés incendient une école primaire publique

Dans la nuit du 20 mars 2022, une école primaire de Siéna dans la province de Nayala a reçu la visite d’hommes armés. Après avoir pillé la cantine, ils ont incendié l’école. Cet établissement étais fermé depuis le 2 février 2022, en raison de l'insécurité.

Boucle du Mouhoun region: armed men set fire to a public primary school

On March 20, 2022 in the night time, a public primary school in Siena located in the province of Nayala has been attacked by a group of armed men. After looting the school canteen, they set fire to the school and many of the materials belonging to the school were destroyed. The school had closed its doors since February 2, 2022 due to insecurity.

Le chef de canton de Sanmatenga ne se présente pas aux élections

Naaba Koom, le chef du canton de Sanmatenga, dans la région du centre nord, s’est retiré de la course à l’Assemblée Législative de Transition du Burkina Faso après des désaccords provoqués par sa candidature au sein de sa communauté. Il a justifié ce retrait par l’intérêt supérieur de la communauté, la cohésion et le vivre ensemble.

Chief Naaba Koom withdraws his candidature for the Transitional Legislative Assembly

The chief of the canton of Sanmatenga in the north-central region withdraws his candidature for the Transitional Legislative Assembly of Burkina Faso after disagreements emerged among the community members about his candidacy. He explained his withdrawal as due to the necessity of preserving social cohesion and living together between daughters and sons of the region.

A l’occasion de la célébration de Maouloud, l’Association Islamique des Encadreurs des Femmes, des Filles et des Hommes musulmans du Burkina (AIFFHMB) a rassemblé du monde dans la salle de conférence du Conseil Burkinabè des Chargeurs (CBC).
On pouvait compter parmi eux, des autorités d’autres religions et certaines autorités coutumières. La rencontre était placée sous le thème : « paix et sécurité : rôle de l’islam au Burkina Faso » dans un contexte d'attaques terroristes sans précédent dans le pays.
Le Président de l’Association le Cheikh Takbir Moujahidin a invité, dans son prêche, les Burkinabè à mieux dialoguer car le Coran renfermerait des valeurs et des bénédictions qui prônent la paix, la cohésion et l’unité.

The Muslim community is invited to promote peace

On the occasion of the celebration of Maouloud, the Islamic Association of Supervisors for Muslim Women, Girls and Men of Burkina (AIFFHMB), mobilized its members in the conference room of the Burkinabè Council of Chargers (CBC).
Leaders of other religions and some traditional authorities were also present at the event. The theme of the meeting was "peace and security: role of Islam in Burkina Faso" in a context where the country is confronted with unprecedented terrorist attacks.
During his preaching, the President of the Association, Sheikh Takbir Moujahidin, said that Islam is calling on the Burkinabe people to engage in dialogue because the Koran contains values ​​and blessings which advocate peace, cohesion and unity.

Une attaque sur l’axe Niamey-Ouagadougou fait de nombreux morts

L’axe Niamey-Ouagadougou entre Téra au Niger et Dori au Burkina Faso est devenu la cible des terroristes. Le 16 mars, un bus d’une compagnie nigérienne de transport a été attaqué par des hommes armés, faisant de nombreux morts. Le maire de Téra,  Hama Mamoudou a déclaré :  "C'est la première fois que nous avons un bus qui est attaqué. C'est un axe très fréquenté. Par jour, nous avons cinq à six sociétés de bus qui vont vers le Burkina et qui en reviennent. La situation devient très grave. Aujourd'hui, le département est vraiment sous pression à cause de ces gens-là". Les compagnies de transport ont décidé de ne plus emprunter cette route.

An attack on the road between Niamey and Ouagadougou kills many people

The road between the cities of Tera in Niger and Dori in Burkina Faso has become the target of terrorists. On Wednesday March 16, 2022, a Niger transport company bus was attacked by armed men, resulting in the death of many of the passengers. For the mayor of Tera Hama Mamoudou: "This is the first time that we have had a bus attacked. This is really becoming a problem for the populations because this road is a very busy road. Per day, we have five to six bus companies travelling on this road. Now with this bus attack, the situation is becoming very serious. Our locality is really under pressure because of these people". Transport companies have decided not to use this route anymore.

A Djibo, la situation sécuritaire se dégrade

Les débuts du mois de mars ont été éprouvants pour le Burkina. Certaines régions du pays ont connu une brusque recrudescence des attaques terroristes. C’est le cas à Djibo dans la province du Soum, où la situation sécuritaire s’est dégradée depuis quelques semaines.

Cependant, les Forces Armées Nationales ont mené des opérations qui ont permis de neutraliser plusieurs dizaines de terroristes.

Djibo: the security situation deeply deteriorated

The beginning of March 2022 was very trying for Burkina. During this period, some regions of the country experienced a resurgence of terrorist attacks. The city of Djibo in the Sahel region is very illustrative of what is happening. The security situation there has deteriorated in recent weeks. However, the National Armed Forces have carried out operations which resulted in neutralizing several dozen terrorists.

Les jeunes au cœur du combat pour la cohésion sociale

Le projet de promotion du dialogue interreligieux et du vivre ensemble (PRO-DIVE) a organisé le 19 mars à Dori, un thé-débat. Il réunissait plusieurs élèves des lycées et collèges et des étudiants de Dori.

Certains jeunes ont estimé que le concept du vivre ensemble devrait être intégré dans le système éducatif afin de promouvoir la cohésion sociale à la base. D’autres s’interrogeaient sur les actions entreprises par l’Etat Burkinabè pour endiguer le phénomène du terrorisme.

Quantin Privat Bayala, animateur du débat, a évoqué les mesures prises ou qui sont en train d’être prises par l’Etat. Pour lui, la région du Sahel est passée d’une région du vivre ensemble, à une région caractérisée par la violence, la haine, l’intolérance et les conflits interreligieux.

Young people take action for social cohesion

On March 19, 2022 in Dori, the promotion of interreligious dialogue and living together initiative (PRO-DIVE) organized a debate on the role and place of young people in promoting living together. Several students from high schools and colleges in Dori took part in the debate.
In the course of the exchanges, some young people felt that the concept of living together should be included in the school curriculum to further social cohesion at the grassroots level. Others wondered about the actions taken by the government to stem the phenomenon of terrorism in the country.
Quantin Privat Bayala, moderator of the debate, after mentioning some measures taken by the government to deal with the situation, explained to the young people that the Sahel region has gone from a region characterized by living together, to a region where violence, hatred, intolerance and inter-religious conflicts have become every day way of life.

L’Assemblée Législative de la Transition désormais opérationnelle

Après quelques jours de tractations dans le choix des délégués, l’installation de l’assemblée législative de la transition s’est opérée le 22 mars dans l’hémicycle.

L’Assemblée était la pièce manquante du puzzle pour la mise en route de la machine de la refondation.

Soldats tués au cours d’une opération militaire dans la région de l’Est

Une unité militaire engagée dans une opération de sécurisation dans la partie Est du Burkina Faso est tombée dans une embuscade.  13 militaires ont été tués, et huit autres blessés. L’opération militaire a pu se poursuivre grâce à un appui aérien.

Dans la région du centre-est, à Koupelogo, une unité du 31ème Régiment d’Infanterie Commando (31 RIC) de Tenkodogo a été victime d’un engin explosif qui a fait plusieurs victimes.

Soldiers killed during a military operation in the east region

A military unit engaged in a security operation in the eastern part of Burkina Faso fell into an ambush causing several victims among the soldiers. A total of thirteen soldiers were killed and eight others injured. Nevertheless, the military operation was able to continue thanks to air support.

In Koupelogo in the Center-East region, a unit of the 31st Commando Infantry Regiment (31 RIC) of Tenkodogo fell on an explosive device causing several victims.
